Jane Austen

This weekend was the 192 anniversary of the death of Jane Austen! She only lived a short 42 years but she gave us some of the best novels ever written! Emma, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, Persuasion! Here are some of my favorite quotes that she left us.

“My being charming, Harriet, is not quite enough to induce me to marry. I must find other people charming—one other person at least…I must see somebody very superior to anyone I have seen yet; to be tempted.”—Emma-Jane Austen-Emma

“There is one thing, Emma, which a man can always do; if he chooses, and that is, his duty; not by maneuvering and finessing, but by vigor and resolution.”—Mr. Knightley-Jane Austen-Emma

“I was quiet, but I was not blind.”—Fanny-Jane Austen-Mansfield Park

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”—Jane Austen- Pride and Prejudice

“It would be an excellent match, for he was rich and she was handsome.”—Jane Austen- Sense and Sensibility

“My protégé, as you call him, is a sensible man; and sense will always have attractions for me.”—Elinor-Jane Austen-Sense and Sensibility

There is also a movie called Jane Austen Regrets that is...awesome...depressing but Awesome...just what Austen's life was. If you don't have it, then I would suggest watching one of the many adaptations of her novels!
