Favorite Fridays!

Pilot Pens! My favorite pen of all time is the Pilot V5 Rolling Point Pen in Black! Now don't get me wrong I have it in red, purple, green, blue...but I always come back to the black one! Plus I will admit that I love pens! And notebooks! I am a sucker for the stationary aisle at stores! It can take me hours...well not hours but a long time...to decide what pen to buy! But this is one that I always go back to!

Robin McKinley! I loved her Outlaws of Sherwood! McKinley gives us a realistic, ordinary Robin who becomes a hero to others while never realizing it himself. He's pessimistic and realistic. It was one of the only Robin Hood versions where I was fully invested in the fate of the rest of Robin's Merry Men other than Maid Marian. Seriously, I was cheering for Little John as much as Robin Hood! I highly recommend The outlaws of Sherwood!

On A Clear Day! This is one of my all time favorite movies! It's all about a man and his mid life crisis! And if you're going to have a mid life crisis well then you might as well swim the English Chanel! It is super funny! It has Billy Boyd (Pippin from Lord of the Rings), Jamie Sives (who is just hot!...he could totally be my future husband!), Peter Mullan (who does an amazing job) and Brenda Blethyn (the mom from Pride and Prejudice...and seriously a fave!). It has one of the best...what do you call it...a group of actors is a...ensemble cast! That's it! And they are! Watch it! Love it!

Socialized Health Care...

IT IS A BAD IDEA!!!
Don't get me wrong, I wish everyone was able to afford health care...but socialized health care is bad. People do not go to Canada for Doctors or operations, and there is no way I would go to England for Dental work...despite my love for the country. Don't be fooled! It won't work! The government has screwed up Social Security...they screwed up the economy, i.e. Franny and Frank...Why oh why would I want them to screw up my health care! So listen to someone much smarter than I am...President Ronald Reagan!!...who is Awesome!


...WE LIVE IN AMERICA!! We are not socialists!! I hope we can learn from the past! Do something! Send an email, write a letter, call your congress man and or woman! One person can and does make a difference!

Favorite Fridays!

Diana Wynne Jones is like the goddess of Fantasy novels! I admit that it took me a couple of chapters to understand exactly what was going on, but then it was just like...holy freaking genius! A magical world being over run with tourist! But then you throw in talking Griffins, dragons, enchantresses, friendly cows, meat eating sheep, sarcastic geese, elves, flying horses...Who thinks of these things! Dark Lord of Derkhlom is one of the Best fantasy books that I have ever read!

Giambattista Valli! I'm loving Valli's Drape Front Knitted Dress! I love the bow detail. You might remember Zoe Saldana wore it a while back.


Hannah Montana! I know, I know, I didn't expect to see this here either. But it was...good. Surprised! Oh yeah, me too. Now don't get me wrong, it's not Oscar material and it has Many elements of the ridiculous. But for a little girl movie…that has appearances by Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts…it's cute. If you've ever seen the TV show you know what to expect. But it's cute!...and so is the guy. He plays the dude in Taylor Swift's You Belong with Me video. And to be honest I probably liked it because we saw it with N and L…for N's 8th birthday!...and a theater full of little girls who new the words to all the songs. Then there was Megs who acted like she was crying every time N looked at her!

Jane Austen

This weekend was the 192 anniversary of the death of Jane Austen! She only lived a short 42 years but she gave us some of the best novels ever written! Emma, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, Persuasion! Here are some of my favorite quotes that she left us.

This has to be the coolest toaster ever! I can just picture this in my future kitchen…I wake up get kids and husband out of bed. We enlighten their little minds with a little Family Scripture Study and then we go into the Kitchen to devour the dark side! Oh dude…my kids are doomed! I mean seriously, what chance do they have of turning out normal when I'm stuffing the mouths with food stamped with Darth Vader and using Chop Sabers…they'll grow up on Star Wars and Lord of the Rings…and to top that off I'll be supporting witchcraft when I read them Harry Potter! They will most definitely own their own wands and lightsabers…doomed they are just doomed…oh well, I'll be sure to use wheat bread.

Favorite Fridays!

Matthew Pearl! I read his The Dante Club and it was awesome. He gave us a great mystery surrounded and fueled on by none other than Poets! It was a captivating read set in Boston right after the Civil War. Pearl shows us the racial prejudice that existed even in the Union but also gives us a glimpse into an even more mysterious world…that of a poet! It even gave me a desire to read Dante's Divine ComedyLongfellow's translation of course!

Popcorn! One of my all time favorite snack foods is Popcorn! No lie. I believe that no movie experience is complete with out it. But I am also kind of picky about it. First when at a theater I HATE the extra butter. All it does is make the kernels soggy…gross!...Not that this has kept me from eating it. Second I HATE the 98% fat free kind my Mother buys. It is just like eating cardboard…gross! But I love movie theater Popcorn. When I worked at Beehive Ceilings I always wanted…but never did…to go to Harkins and be like, I don't want to watch a movie but I'm on my lunch break and I'm really craving your Popcorn! Can I please just buy a bag. Or if you don't trust me, will you go buy me one while I sit here! When I do finally get a new job I think I will really do this!

Christian Dior! I am absolutely lusting after Dior's Dot Print Shirt Dress! Zoe Saldana, of Star Trek, wore it quite a while ago, but I still cannot get over it! It is so begging to live in my closet!


Breach! This movie is very cool! Chris Cooper does an excellent job playing Robert Hanssen…he brings the creepy traitor to life, by giving him a sincere, though creepy, emotional depth. Ryan Phillippe is hot and actually does a good job! And Laura Linney is as usual practically perfect in her hard core FBI persona! Hubbard first introduced me to this movie and I will ever be thankful! It's so…Oh My Gosh, I can't believe a guy could be that creepy!...seriously just wait till you see the very last scene with Cooper! Amazing!

Chop Sabers...

To be honest I really cannot use chop sticks. I know that might surprise some...but when you think about it I'm sure you'll come to realize it's not...but I really cannot, just ask Hubbard. Now despite the fact that I've hear that it's "easy" and my love of food that uses them...such as Orange Chicken!**...I still prefer a fork!

But if all orders of Chinese food came with a pair of these Chop Sabers then I might be more motivated to learn!
**The best chicken I have ever had comes from a little shop in in Salt Lake called Pan Wok! Seriously next time I'm in Salt Lake you will happily find me there!

One of the cutest short films I've seen in awhile...well maybe ever!



First...I loved every outfit she wears! I have found that I've really being drawn to the colored tights! And the cuteness of the outfits!

Second...I love the sign next to the supply closet door...Can you please make sure that stationary you take out is solely for work purposes!...even though to be honest if my employees were that creative with post-its I would not mind at all!

Third...It's just so freaking cute!

The joys of unemployment!

Well I've been unemployed for...too long to admit on online! So I have turned to books, puzzles, and Captain Wentworth...my computer!

But with Mel and PB staying with us while PS has been working in Montana, Idaho and California, it has been difficult finding a safe place to do a puzzle. Mom has been sewing baby blankets for women in the ward, and when she's not sewing Mel is sewing a bedspread or something. Which leaves me with out a table.
So I made a Fort. I pushed two couch together in the garage! The first picture is of a puzzle I did a couple Saturdays ago. And what a lovely Saturday...One new puzzle, the Three Extended Editions of Lord of the Rings and a fort!



Here is another spot I've found. The Chest Grandpa gave me! It wasn't big enough to do the entire puzzle so I had to do the bottom section separate! It was kind of confusing, but it's a nice break from really having to think!

Favorite Fridays!

Robin McKinley! Last week I finished Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast! I loved it! And only part because Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time favorite Disney movies…mainly because Belle has brown hair and likes to read! Despite knowing how the story ends…or how I believed it would end…I loved it.

The Band's Visit! I liked it. It's a foreign film so do not expect anything fast or fancy. It's very…raw. But there was definitely something there. There is a tenderness, but it's very melancholy, yet funny, and…something…almost hope.




Michael Kors! I love this Michael Kors Fall 2008 floral dress that Kristen Davis is wearing! Plus is so such a Charlotte dress I cannot help but love it!

Ring Pops! One of the most cool candies ever made! Seriously who would have thought, I know lets stick a sucker on a ring!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!

Today is my Grandpa's 77th Birthday!
Grandpa can fix anything when it breaks. I once wrote a paper in 3rd grade...or around 3rd grade, it was a while ago...about how my Grandpa was the greatest skunk killer ever! Seriously, he's killed over 100 out at their house! He cans peaches with my Grandma, fixes porch swings when the fall, he's really quite awesome! I love you Grandpa and hope you have a great day!

Last night Uncle D took Grandpa, Grandma, Megs, O, Papa and I to Floridino's to celebrate! Let me tell you their Chicken Alfredo was delicious! But the bench O, Grandma and I sat on was so low! Seriously Grandma and I were like chin high to the table! It was really funny!

And look who was on the wall watching over us! Yep Frank Sinatra! Megs and I at least enjoyed that!

I cannot wait for this movie!

Well it's still eight more days before Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince premiers here...and I am so excited!...but it has already premiered in London! And look at how the three stars have grown up!

First I'm so in love with Rupert Grint, he could definitely be my future husband. I love his very casual, this is me look he always has. Second despite my love/hate relationship with Emma Watson I love her outfit...even though it's wet in this picture. It's vintage Ossie Clark and it looks gorgeous! Plus I love the red ribbon in her hair. Third, how sad Daniel Radcliffe looks like such a...just gross. He's made how much money off of Harry Potter and he can't manage to look even a little bit...not like that. Poor Harry!

I thank God every night that I was born in this country, under its flag, given the freedoms I have grow to love, cherish and yes even at times take for granted. But I will never forget! My freedom was paid for by the sweat and blood of greater men then me. So as you go through out your day today take a moment and remember again what it means to be an American! And that doesn't mean you have to go sign up at your nearest recruiting center but remember those who have fought and are still fighting for our freedom!...and enjoy a hotdog and or hamburger, Ice Cream and fireworks! Because that is what they are fighting for…YOU!!

We started our day with the Vineyard Ward Annual Flag Raising/Pancake Breakfast this morning at 6:00! It was good! Josie Penrod's dad came and spoke, the Primary kids sang, and Rachel Davenport read a history of the flag! It was early and I wasn't wearing super cute shoes…but it was fun! I hope everyone has a great 4th!

Favorite Fridays!

Marc Jacobs! In the 4th of July Spirit I'm totally lusting for these Stars Open Toe Pumps by Marc Jacobs! I think they would be perfection for any Patriotic Outing...such as an early morning Pancake Breakfast! Let's be honest, I'm not the happiest morning person...at all...but I think slipping these star covered beauties on would happily wake me up! I mean who wouldn't want to show these off...even at 6:00 in the morning!

Jerramy Fine! Her book Someday My Prince Will Come: True Adventures of a Wannabe Princess is Awesome!! It's a delightful read that will leave one jonesing not only for London but Hugh Grant look alikes, Pirates, and Princes! The book follows Jerramy on her Transatlantic Adventure to meet her prince, Peter Phillips, who she knows is her soul mate! Ms. Fine uses such a conversational tone that you feel as though it is one of your own girlfriends telling the story! I loved it! She mixes hilarity in with some very useful tips on surviving in London! Read it and remember...We are all Princesses searching for our own Prince Charming!

Sierra Mist Ruby Splash! I must admit that I'm not the biggest Sierra Mist fan…but when they add the Ruby Splash to it…well it becomes quite a treat. It's no Mountain Dew, but it's good!

Arizona Storms! They aren't really rain storms because we don't get that much rain...and it's to early for monsoons but tonight we had a small one, with a little rain...very little rain. But it was still very pretty! Papa needed someone to drive the truck while he sprayed the weeds…so I was volunteered. It's always pretty to watch a storm from a farm!
