Monday Musical!

If you saw Hairspray and didn't like or walked away not crushing on someone in it...then we probably aren't friends...or you're a straight guy! Zac Efron who plays Link Larkin is thankfully Vanessa Hudgens free in this movie, so the singing is fab! Now some prefer Link and others Seaweed, but for me it was all about Corny Collins! James Marsden is Fabulous and incredibly hot. But that is off topic...kind of...this song I love and it actually is my cell phone ring for Megs! And I dedicate it to all those girls out there...and you know who you are...who once had a crush on a boy they barely talked to. Not like me who crushes on men I've never talked too!

Christmas!

Well tomorrow is Christmas...well it will technically be here in like 90 minutes!

This last week I had the privilege of teaching Sunday School in church...well it was suppose to be Gospel Principles (the class for those who are visiting and or new to the church) but since the Gospel Doctrine (the class for everyone else) teacher was a no show I ended up teaching everyone!...oh goodie! This was quite the surprise because Saturday night when I went to sit down and prepare my lesson I saw a book...Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague...sitting next to my bed and I thought, oh well one chapter then I'll start my lesson...300 pages later I was done with the book, it was almost midnight, and I still didn't have a lesson plan. So being the dedicated person I am, I did not pick up the next book, but prepared my lesson, which was on repentance!

I did pretty well preparing it...well at least I thought so! Then I saw this question...What Does Repentance mean to you? For some reason this hit me...What does it mean to me? And here is where my lesson took a tangent. I thought about it and I would like to share it with you all...whoever you may all be...and I apologize now, this might take a while to explain!

First, let's read Luke 2! That's right the Christmas story. This might not be the story most turn to when thinking about repentance but stay with me! The whole story is good, but I want to focus on when the angel appears to the shepherds, vs. 10-14...mainly 13 & 14...

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward me!"

...Here is what I Believe. I believe that we were part of that heavenly host. I believe that we were so Happy, ecstatic that God could not contain our joy at that moment, that we burst forth because Jesus Christ, our savior and Redeemer had finally been born! I believe that we had watched thousands and millions of our brothers and sisters come to earth, and fall away...truly forget who they were, where they had come from. We had watched our Spirit brothers and sisters fall into sin and temptation...we had watched them forget over and over for thousands of years. But this night our Savior was born! The hope of the world had finally come and we were there that night to sing him our praise! We were so happy that God could not contain our JOY that night!

But even after that night he was loyal to me and to you. He never gave into the temptations of this world. And I don't think it was easy. Satan knew who he was, he knew that all he had to do was make him make one mistake...to yell at him brother, back talk to his mom...just one little sin, and he would win! But he never did! He loved us so much, that he never gave in once not even a little! He loved us so much that he even gave his life for us. For you and me. In Doctrine and Covenants 19: 18-19 Christ himself describes what he went through...

Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit--and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink--Nevertheless, glory be to the Father and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.

He did that for me. Every drop of sweat and blood was for me and it was for you! I cannot fully understand how he did it. But I KNOW he did. Because of the atonement, Christ suffering in the garden and on the cross, we can repent. It is through repentance that we are able to become clean and eventually return back to live with our Father in Heaven.

Back to Luke 2. The angel said that he was there to bring Glad Tidings of Great Joy! I believe that the Glad Tidings is the Gospel of Jesus Christ...the Good News. And the gospel is the Atonement of Christ. It's the fact that we can return to live with Him and our Father. And the Great Joy is Repentance. Because it is only through repentance that we can become clean (Mosiah 3:12) In Mosiah 4:3 they describe it as the Spirit of the Lord filling you with joy! In Preach My Gospel they describe the Holy Ghost gives you a foretaste of eternal joy! That is what Repentance means to me. It's the joy we can feel. It is a hope that if I try everyday I will live with Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ once again! It is knowing that Christ gave his life for me, just so I would have the privilege of repenting. It is his love.

This is what I have had going through my head all week. And I'm sharing it with you as a little Christmas message! Because despite how many books I read, movies I watch, actors I obsess over, food I eat and all that other stuff I do...I know that Christ lives and loves each and everyone of us! I'm so grateful for the gospel in my life and for the JOY it brings! I honestly don't know where I would be without it! I love this time of year not only for the shopping and presents but for the opportunity we have to think about Christ and everything that he has given us! I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, get everything on your lists, and take some time out of your day to remember what it's all about. To remember the baby that was born in a manger and how we all were there to sing to him that night!

Politically Correct Christmas...

So I'm suppose to be finding...clean...Christmas jokes. And as I have been looking I've found that they are all rather dumb and not really funny, but I did find this story that made me laugh and roll my eyes so for you viewing pleasure A Politically Correct Christmas!

'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...
How to live in a world that's politically correct?

His workers no longer would answer to "Elves",
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.

And labor conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.

Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wild by the Humane Society.

And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.

So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!

The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.

And people had started to call the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.

Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened".

And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows:
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.

So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
who suddenly said she'd enough of this life,
Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.

And as for the gifts, why, he'd ne'er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.

Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.

Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot.
Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.
Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific.
No candy or sweets...they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.

And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better left hidden.

For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.

No baseball, no football...someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.

Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.

So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.

He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
But you've got to be careful with that word today.

His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.

Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.

A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;
Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere...even you.

So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth...

"The world is not driven by discounts, believe me. I have been in business forever. I started helping my mother after school here when I was six years old and I use to watch her. Look at the bailout of Wall Street. December Dinner!

Well I am well on my way to accomplishing #23 on my list! And by well I mean I've done two dinners. One was Ole's birthday dinner and the second one was last Thursday!

It was pretty fun to do! I did blue, silver and pink! It was really fun, I would have like to have worked in the more traditional red and green, but honestly I didn't care enough to do it by the end!

We made eggs benedict which was delicious! Seriously, I loved it! I was a little concerned when I tried the sauce by itself...but oh it was good! For those of you who know my family, you need not worry, I also made Lazy Chili Rellenos for those who wanted something more traditional...but everyone liked them!

Mel made Monkey Bread that was our sweet breakfasty dessert!

It was a very fun dinner! All the food was super good and really easy to make! Plus, I made everyone wear white, blue or pink to dinner! Which completed the meal...but I cannot post pictures of that because I made too many promises to Megs that I wouldn't! But let it be known that it was awesome!!

Monday Musical!

White Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas movies ever! Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Danny Kayne, and the really skinny chic whose name escapes me this morning and I don't feel like looking it up. It's a great movie despite their strange desire for snow...seriously I will never understand why people would rather have a white Christmas over dry one! Anyways this is one of my favorite songs from the movie!

They are a little like aliens, coming into beings as bundles of energy and pure potential, here on some exploratory mission and they are just trying to learn what it means to be human. And that's weird enough for both of us."--David, Martian Child

Favorite Fridays!

The Bishop's Wife! Classic Christmas movie! If I could choose an angel to come help me, he would look like Cary Grant too! I loved the way that all the girls kind of stare at him, and the Matilda trips over herself to do things for him! Loved it! It was a very cute Christmas movie! They even did a remake with Denzel Washington.

Cherry Limeades! Oh how I heart thee! Now I'm not a huge fan of all the food Sonic has to offer but you cannot beat their drinks!...this sounds so good right now...I think I need to go get one! Anyone want to come with me?

Marchesa! Naomi Watts wore a beautiful raspberry silk Marchesa dress that looked stunning! Seriously I am in love with this dress! She also wore nude Louboutin heels to finish her look!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Grinch was a classic before Jim Carrey even put on that itchy green suit! And here is a surprise fact that I never put together. The Grinch is Boris Karloff! Karloff! You may recognize him as Frankenstein's monster! Can you believe it?!? It was quite a shock to me too!
