“It turns out that one reason we’re so good together is that each of us eats more and faster than anyone either of us has ever met; also, we both recognize the genius of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”—Julie Powell, Julie & Julia

Favorite Fridays!

The Saint! Val Kilmer at his finest...literally! I have to thank Alexis for introducing this wonderful movie to me...a long long time ago back before Queen Creek was really populated! Kilmer plays a thief who is pretty awesome...all I can say is leather pants...and snug as a bug in a rug! Watch it and LOVE it!

Par Engsheden! Princess Victoria of Sweden was married this week in the most beautiful dress designed by the Swedish designer, Par Engsheden!! It was a simple silk A-line dress with a fifteen foot train. She wore the same gold and pearl tiara that her mother wore on her wedding! She looked gorgeous! I love the simplicity!!

Vanessa Paradis! I am loving her Divine Idylle right now! Not exactly sure what she's saying but I'm loving the song!

Monday Musical!

I watched Moulin Rouge again this weekend and was reminded about how awesome it is! Megan is always surprised that Obi Wan Kenobi...Ewan McGregor...can sing! I'm always shocked at the genius of the music! And though I cannot really choose a favorite song today for your viewing pleasure I thought we'd watch, Come What May, the finale of the movie!

Favorite Friday!

The Tenth Kingdom! Oh my goodness it's awesome, it's the perfect combination of fantasy, action and comedy!! You have magic mirrors, Snow White, Trolls...and not the orange kind with rainbow hair, wolves, sheep, magic mushrooms, talking dogs...kind of! It's an adult fairy tale and did I mention Awesome!! Scott Cohen as Wolf steals the show, he's child-like, enthusiastic, funny...an incredible performance.

Giambattista Valli! Jessica Biel looked super cute at the MTV Movie Awards a few weeks ago! I love her Giambattita Valli Fall 2010 dress! I love the polka dot top, the pink bow, and the black embellished skirt...all of it!!

Maroon 5! The other day I was blog scanning and I came across Maroon 5 singing Pure Imagination from the Original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I loved it! But just so you know the i-tune version comes with a bunch of Obama political...crap...with kind of ruins the song for me. Still it's worth listening too!

Favorite Friday!

Gary D. Schmidt! My Aunt Adrienne recently recommended The Wednesday Wars to me, so of course I read it...and loved it! It is one of the best books that I've read all year! Holling Hoodhood, a seventh grader during Vietnam, has to spend Wednesday Afternoons with his teacher while the rest of the class goes to different religious study classes. Mrs. Baker, who Holling is sure hates him, because why else would they have to read Shakespeare! It's great to see not only how he interprets the plays but how they are related to his everyday life and help him gain the motivation...the Big M...and courage he needs!

David Tutera! I admit I am addicted to My Fair Wedding and I love David Tutera! He is amazing! He does amazing things...yes he has ton of resources and huge company to help him. But the results are amazing! He's amazing...and even his ties usually match the wedding!

The World Cup! Who is excited for this! I am!! I remember watching the Germany vs. Italy game on 4 July at Familia Valenzuela's home with Hermana Leano, Elder Johnson and Elder Leal! It was so much fun! And it was the first time Leano and I saw our favorite footballer...Fabio Cannavaro! But more then that I remember Leano refusing to know who won the championship on Sunday so we could pick up our taped copy and watch it early Monday morning! It was a great P-day...preparation day...to watch Italy beat France!! OH MY GOODNESS! I cannot wait today we get to watch USA vs. England...and even if we don't win, I cannot wait!!!

Simon and Garfunkle! They're classic. I am a Rock is one of my favorites! It always reminds me of About a Boy and Bon Jovi!

Favorite Fridays!

Caravaggio! I love art...the looking at it, but I wasn't blessed with that talent! But One of my favorite paintings...and I have a lot...is Caravaggio's Supper at Emmaus! I saw it when I was in London, at the National Gallery! It's beautiful! I like that he depicts Christ without a beard...which could be one of the reasons that he disciples don't recognize him. One of Caravaggio's...themes is to show Christ...the sublime...interrupting everyday life, suggesting to us...ordinary people...that Christ could enter our daily lives as well!

Eli Stone! Oh my goodness, I cannot believe I never watched this show! It is amazing and hilarious! It stars Johnny Lee Miller and Victor Garber, there's singing and dancing...It's like Glee's really awesome ancestor! I've only watched the first season but from what I saw I cannot believe that it was canceled after two seasons!...Well actually I can because they cancels Pushing Daisies after two Firefly after one and the original Star Trek after three!...It's about a lawyer, Stone, who has a brain aneurysm and starts having these crazy visions, which leaves him not knowing if he's some kind of prophet or just really crazy! It's a great show and well worth watching!

Christian Dior! Kate Beckinsale looked stunning at the Cannes Film Festival...in everything she wore...but this was one of my favorites! I love plum/rose combo and the nude heels!
