To end our bug week and welcome N back from horse camp, we had a Very Hungry Caterpillar party!
The art work on the fridge was made by both L and I--by way of our feet!
We ate lots of fruits and vegetables--L and I made the featured caterpillars as well!
"Is this beer?" asked L
"No it is not beer, it's soda" answered I
"It looks like beer. Oh, it's beer soda" commented N
"Yep, it's beer soda" my sarcasm was missed by all!
We ate Tuna sandwiches--cut to look like butterflies--Pickles, Grapes, Dirt pudding, Gummy Worms, Oranges, Strawberries, Ants on a log, carrots, bananas...
and mini ice cream cones!
PH really liked his bug net!
Afterwards the kids played in the bubbles and balloon ping-pong!
As N went off to horse camp I promised L that we would do something really fun--look for bugs! Yep, L loves bugs--I don't get it and I never will--so we went bug hunting.
And we found some--to be honest she probably would have found more bugs if she was hunting with someone who didn't hate bugs! But we caught them and put them in our bug holders and she transferred them into her bug house every night.
L set bug traps everywhere--but we never caught a bug in any of them!
I would get to her house in the mornings and she would tell me all about the bug traps she "made up"!
Then we'd wait for the bugs!
When it got really hot we would hunt for bugs in the house--I had 12 glow in the dark bugs that we would hide and then find! L thought this was the best game ever--and for a six year old she was very good at hiding them!

To continue our Fishy business, N read us some fishy books from the Library!
We made aquariums out of paper plates, sandwich bags, crayons, and paper fish!
To end our Fishy weeks we had a Ocean/Pirate party!
We had a treasure hunt that led them to the party!
We made these crab hats--and I made the girls where to the store to buy popsicles!
We has tuna fish sandwiches, blue jello with gummy fish, fish crackers, pickels--the boys love pickles! They could eat a whole jar by themselves!--squeeze-its, ding dongs, and Swedish fish!

Our first adventure this Summer was to Sea Life! Which happened to be on World Oceans Day--Did you know there was a World Oceans Day? I didn't, but I did take credit for planning our trip on a day that just happened to be Fishy day!
All the kids loved it! Except after playing on the playland thing at the end we asked PB if he liked it, and he said, No, because he didn't see Nemo!--There are Nemo and Dori fish there!
But he sure talked a lot about the big crabs and sharks for someone who was disappointed!
Megs even joined us after school! PH didn't like this big fish guy, and L kind of screamed a little when she first saw him!
What did I do at Sea Life? Well, I taught them how to do the Little Mermaid pose. It was very educational!

Well now that school has started, my girls have gone back to school and I am officially unemployed I thought I should write about what we did all summer!
To kick the summer off, we went to the library! A shocking turn of events I know. I really don't know a better way to start out the summer. Everyone got to choose a book--except for me who had classes all summer long and had no time to enjoy a good book, that wasn't assigned! (This is not a posed picture, this is how I really found them!)
We also made Summer scrapbooks! N & L loved them! I pulled out all our scrapbook paper and they were seriously entertained for hours! It was great! We kept them up pretty good--they really liked putting pictures in it, making random shapes to put in it, drawing pictures, we even used them as our science journals! It was all very fun!

or that girl is wearing my earrings.
Seriously, I've had these earrings for years...from Target! To bad Fallene's outfit was crap, though the head piece was cool!
But the whole stilt challenge was a joke! We're on episode 3 and I don't really have a favorite yet, do you?
But I really liked Nina Garcia's Giambattista dress! Definitely the prettiest thing in the episode!

Which let's be honest I didn't mind the chaps at all.
To celebrate the fact that all my summer classes are over, I decided that Ford and Craig were the perfect thing to go see. And it was--good. I enjoyed it--but I was a little disappointed. I'm not sure what was missing--but the film just seemed to be lacking--something. Ford on the other hand was better than I've seen him in a while. He just fit the role! I would have liked to have seen more of Col. Woodrow Dolarhyde (Ford) and Nat Colorado (Adam Beach of Smoke Signals)--to be honest it might have been a better movie if they had let Ford's story be the main focus and cut most of the other side stories.!
There's a part with a surprise "alien" that was so--oh you have to be kidding me! I couldn't control the eye rolls. And Olivia Wilde just bothered me, at least her behavior is explained in the movie! I thought that the part where Craig is killing a whole crap load of aliens was--anti-climatic and there's a knife scene that was unfortunately pretty predicable! But you have to enjoy Sam Rockwell as Doc.
Hunt (Walt Goggins) one of the bad guys also could have had more screen time. As well as Meacham (Clancy Brown), the local parson, I liked his character and wish we saw more of him. One of my favorite scenes is when Ford and Craig are running and Craig's hat flies off but he doesn't leave it. It made me laugh--pure cowboy!
Over all it was a good summer flick! A tad bit disappointing, but enjoyable nonetheless!
