Christmas Shopping.

If you're out and about in Queen Creek you should stop by! My newest sister J is hosting a little boutique and she has some super cute things. My mom and sisters are going to have things there too. Dolls, Christmas Stockings, Baby Shoes, Aprons...I've put a Party in a Box, or two that will be there. But seriously J has some really cute things that would make perfect Christmas gifts.

Bear.

With Thanksgiving fastly approaching I thought it would be appropriate to visit our Sunnydale friends for one of my favorite Thanksgiving episodes--Pangs.

Thanksgiving is summed up nicely by Anya as "a ritual sacrifice, with pie." Pangs is a holiday classic; you have angry Native American spirits let loose seeking revenge, Spike tied to a chair, Xander throwing fruit at a bear, Spike being hit with arrows. Giles, as the shows patriarch, is chosen to host the Thanksgiving dinner and his house becomes the epicenter for--well everything really. We also learn that Riley is from Iowa very boring considering almost everyone who sees Angel in the episode assumes that he's evil again! It's an entertaining episode but the real development is that Spike turns to the Scoobies for help; he chooses to align himself with his would be enemy to face a greater--at least in his mind--evil, the Initiative.

TANGENTS:
  • Foreshadowing: Willow talking about the missing ear a "demon that is building another demon"--hello Initiative Adam.
  • Product Placement: The Village People; Sal's Surf Shop; Grant Wood
  • Whedonism: "horse hooey"; "Yam Sham"; "I like my evil, like I like my men...evil."

Greatest.

It's Voting Day!

I cast my vote a few days ago, but D is going down to the polling station to cast his vote in his very first Election...unless you count the primary and I'm not! It's an exciting day, a day I've looked forward to for the past 4 years.

Our country is in...a bad place and has been for a while, I hope everyone* takes advantage of the fact that we live in the greatest country on Earth. It is our right, as Americans, to say who we want to run our country and it matters--don't throw away this precious right and privilege we have, go VOTE.

"The American people are the greatest people in the world. What makes America the greatest nation in the world is the hear of the American people: hardworking, innovative, risk-taking, God-loving, family-oriented American people."
*even stupid people should vote!

TV Tuesday.

Mockingbird Lane was pure genius!! I loved how Herman just loved to hard and kept dying! I didn't realize how much I have missed Bryan Fuller's until I watched this pilot. It brought back memories of why I LOVED Pushing Daisies. I hope that NBC comes to its senses and decides to continue to produce this little gem, because Mockingbird Lane was a breath of fresh air that I truly hope sticks around.

Tangents:

  • Hetty is the secret moderator for the presidential debates on NCIS: LA? Very clever of those writers.
  • I loved how on Modern Family Manny's Angel was a baseball player and the devil was Luke!
  • Criminal Minds was intense this week--not that that's a different M.O. But they definitely went Halloween on us with a Frankenstein episode! Dr. Frankenstein had a major God complex and this Frankenstein was no differently.
  • Did anyone else get chills when Kara walked in and hugged Victoria on Revenge?
  • I'm all about OUAT pulling from different source material and mixing fairy-tales with other literary characters but the Frankenstein twist was interesting. The main thing that I question is where is Victor's world? I get Oz, Neverland, the Giant at the top of the bean stalk, but an alternative Victoria Steam punk Europe?
  • I love how excited Monroe is about Halloween!
  • Is there really one one person in the Portland PD that speaks Spanish on Grimm? That is hard to believe, but it did get Juliette back in the station.
  • I've always liked Rebecca on the Vampire Diaries and I'm glad some of the originals were back this week. Klaus is evil...but he's so good at it!

Ghostly.

The main ingredient in a ghost story is pretty obvious--a freaking ghost!

TOR complied a list fun list of Ghosts. Not something I thought I'd enjoy but it was really fun to read the different names of ghosts that I have come in contact with--literary ghosts, cinematic ghosts, and others!

28 October 2012

Fondly.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned my love of Leanna Renee Hieber Strangely Beautiful books but they are quite amazing.

Halloween is almost upon us and even if you are not into scary stories sometimes Ghost stories can be fun--seriously you really should read all about Alexi in Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker but until you get your hands on a copy head on over to TOR and read Too Fond by Hieber

Ghost Stories.

To be honest I've never been a big fan of really scary things. Suspenseful things...yes. Horror...heck no. But there's always something about a good ghost story.

So why so we read Ghost stories? Let Neil Gaiman tell you why!

  • McGarrett's annoying mom is back in "Popilkia" on Hawaii 5-0.
  • Captain Hook can certainly pull off the guy-liner. Maurice's flower shop was called Game of Thorns. I loved how Ruby brought the dwarves a basket of food. Charming sure looked good working in the mines. I really enjoyed Rumple's force death grip. Belle as the town's librarian was perfect. OUAT is so much better when Rumple is on screen.
  • Criminal Minds was extremely good this week. I love the twisted take on the looking glass and Lewis Carroll.
  • Revenge was intense! It was so sad when Em sees her mom comforting fake Amanda and my heart broke a little when Aiden showed back up to comfort Ems at the end. And Nolan's story line this week just made me love him more--though I still don't trust Padma.

  • Rule #38 "Your case, your lead" on NCIS. It's not a new rule but it's always fun when Gibb's rules show up in an episode. Oleander poisoning--having grown up with oleanders surrounding my house I always find it funny when it's the oleander poison that does some one in.
  • I love being reminded that Castle is a good dad. I loved when he checked for monsters one last time under Alexis's bed.
  • Was I the only one that was a little excited when Hank kissed Sarah on Parenthood?! Oh Little League--I loved all the errors that the kids on the field made. I never played LL but Mel, O, and D have all played so I've watched--well kind of watched, I always had a book with me--a lot of games.
  • I really think that David Charming will be a good gramps to Henry on OUAT but I'm wondering what they are going to do with all the villains--Regina, Cora, Rumple, King what's his name, the mystery man from 2.1 and next week Captain Hook.  I'm sad that we will not be seeing more of Lancelot. Despite how much I like watching Emma/Snow interact in FTL I'm ready for them to come back but it doesn't look like that is happening anytime soon. I found myself really liking Mulan's hair this week--not sure why, it hasn't changed but I liked it. I also loved when Jefferson found his daughter!
  • Did anyone else scream a little when Aiden showed up at the hotel on Revenge and there was Em's mom?!

6. Deep conversations with your best friend!

TV Tuesday.

I love the fact that when Charming pulled Jefferson out of his car he is holding a rabbit and there is a tea set that just happened to land next to his car! Cora is alive and well in the FTL?! It kind of makes sense, why would Regina want to take her mother to reality? But still I thought she was the queen of hearts, where has she been? A little disappointed that OUAT still insists on using the fuggly pictures in Henry's book. Granny should always carry a cross bow and Charming should always have a sword. Where did Pinocchio go and where was Belle? I really liked the shot of Charming and Henry eating together, I look forward to seeing Charming trying to take care of Henry. I hope that they tell us what Rumple's real connection with Regina's family is.

  • Kristina or Jodi Lyn O'Keefe on Castle--um she walked onto the screen and I thought there is our cold blooded killer. Why? Because she will forever and always be the crazy killer lady Susan/Gretchen from Prison Break.
  • Every time I watch Revolution I think--if this really happened then people really should have made their way to Utah because for decades prophets have been telling us to get our year supplies together. If people had a years supply then things might have gone better. Then I hear the the whole stock piling of arms schpeel at the beginning and I think of Obama and how since he took office guns and ammo sells have gone through the roof! Did anyone else get chills when LOST alum Mark Pellegrino showed up on screen.
  • There was a slap fight on New Girl this week--we need more slap fights in our life.
  • I liked that on Elementary Sherlock spends his free time picking locks!
  • Why oh why does Nolan just assume he can trust Padma on Revenge? Hasn't he learned anything since meeting Emily--you cannot trust anyone! It was nice to see Emily's revengey ex with an accent in this episode, though I don't think she's going to be very happy he shot the white haired man.

Missionaries.

"Leave the saving of the world of the world to the men? I don't think so."-Brenda Parr a.k.a. Elastic Girl, The Incredibles

This last weekend was the LDS General Conference--and it was wonderful!! The biggest news to come out of the conference was the missionary age has been lowered to 18 for young men and 19 for young women! I was so excited when I heard this I almost cried!  The above quote is from the Incredibles and it has been one of my favorite quotes since the day I first watched the movie.

Being a missionary is amazing! I've always had a special place in my heart for Elders. I grew up on Papa's stories of his mission to Peru. I cannot remember a time when I wasn't going to serve a mission just like my Papa--like my Aunt ML, my Aunt L, and my Mema! Heroes come in many shapes and sizes but I've always been able to recognize mine--they wear name tags!

All young men in the LDS church are asked to serve missions, but it has always been an option for young women. That being said I will tell you that pretty much every Young Womans lesson was on Temple Marriage--now I know that's not completely true but it sure seemed like it. Sister missionaries--or as I will always refer to the cool ones, Hermanas--are different from the Elders. Don't get me wrong I don't think that they are more capable or get more baptisms--they are just different! Elder Holland says that they're "stunningly successful!"

Sometimes people just need a different approach and now the world will be able to see more of them as they are able to serve at 19. I'm so excited for the young women who will be able to serve missions two years earlier. One of the things I did when I turned 19 and all the guys I went to High School with were leaving was to make a count down--a two year count down! Serving a mission is the best is the best decision a person can make for their life! It was by far the best thing I have ever done and continues to be a daily blessing in my life!

I love when missionaries come return home!!

My cousin J returned from the New York New York City South Mission, so naturally I made shirts! PH and PB were very excited to go pick up the missionary--until we got there and then neither of them would talk to him.

But J gave PB a pass along card and he was so excited! When I asked him what he got he told me a "picture of Jesus from New York!"

That Sunday we went to hear him talk in church then when we got to his house this was sitting there! Oh my goodness my Aunt L is amazing!! A hotdog cart!!

Welcome home J!

TV Tuesday.

With the return of everything I'm reminded how much I am emotionally connected to all my fictional characters.

OUAT is back!!! Oh my goodness I'm so glad it's back and I LOVED IT!! I cannot wait to find out who the guy in the opening is--Bael? Emma's baby daddy? Maybe both or neither, but I'm holding out because I love the idea that Henry's grandparents are Snow/Charming and Rumpel. Did you notice the Cleaners & Hatter's sign in his apartment? And who's sending postcards by pigeon? It is so very LOST to find out that our FT flashbacks are actually not flashbacks. I'm interested to see if there will be any flash backs this season or just the two worlds. And what about August? Is he alive...or wooden...or both? Where is Jefferson? Rumpel is still by far the best character on the show and oh how I love him being so gray. How do people not know who Dr. Whale is? Has Charming never met him? I cannot wait to see what Regina does to try to get back at Rumpel and how he puts her back in her place. Prince Philip was lovely and it is to bad that he was marked and not Aurora because she bothered me the whole episode. I also want to know what else Gold has in his shop! Mr. Gold's interaction with the Charming's is really funny, I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Fairy Tale personalities come through to reality. I wonder if Emma will end up having a real magical power in Fairy Tale Land. And what will people say when they realize Belle is Mr. Gold's girlfriends?! Most importantly what saved the FT characters that are still in FTL and is there a reason they were left there? Lastly did you notice that Snow is clinging to Emma's jacket even though they're unconscious.

I love Bones but I'm kind of tired of the whole Palant story line. I also thought it was very sweet that Bones acknowledged the death of Michael Clarke Duncan.
  • Lilly and Marshall's baby on HIMYM is adorable!
  • Revolution (Pilot), I liked it! It was fun to see Elizabeth Mitchell again, even if it was briefly--I'm not sure I'm sold on the whole being dead thing nut maybe it was just a cool guest star who'll only appear in flash backs? I totally called the boy being a bad guy, and was not even surprised that he saved her, it might be interesting to find out who he really is. I have faith in Abrams--so if I commit to getting invested in these characters I do hope that other watch it too because if it turns out like Alcatraz, i.e. I'm the only one watching I will be very sad! Next Did anyone else see the creepy giant bunny at the abandoned park/carnival place. As far as casting goes I'm loving Billy Burke, Zak Orth and Giancarlo Esposito! (Ep. #2) Totally called the mom still being alive!
  • NCIS!!!! First can I just say how glad I am that Fornell was in this episode! NCIS needs more of him. Ziva and Tony, oh how I've wondered what was going to happen in that elevator and it was so typical NCIS. I love Palmer but he's no Ducky!
  • Parenthood seems determined to make me cry in every episode! Am I the only one that is glad Hattie finally went to college!? She bugged me soooo much! I loved Amber in this last episode, she really is ready to step in whatever way her family needs her. Now as far as Lorelai  is concerned are you still liking Captain Morgan or are you falling for Ray Barone or what ever his name is on the show? I like Sarah with Mark but I'm really liking this new Hank guy!
  • Ok so there is a painting in Gloria and Jay's house on Modern Family that is behind Dylan when he's talking to Claire that I loved!
  • I really enjoyed Elementary. First, I love Johnny Lee Miller because he's Mr. Knightley and...pretty! It was also fun to see Aidan Quinn, who I will enjoy watching. I'm not sure I like Watson being a woman but as long as they NEVER make it sexual then I think I can live with it. I also must admit that I thought the episode was beautiful, the director Michael Cuesta did an amazing job--I also believe that he's seen Sherlock because the way in witch he directed the episode did call me back to the BBC version. Still I like the episode and I'm interested to see if they will introduce Moriarty or better yet Mycroft!
  • D kept telling me I needed to watch Grimm--turns out it was because there is a guy on it that he was sure played Joseph Smith in The Work and the Glory movie. Turns out it is the same guy, so kudos to D for even remembering that they made WatG into a movie. Honestly I wish I hadn't known this fact because I watched this episode where Jonathan Scarfe is a preacher whose actual congregation are sheep. And I'm probably reading way more into it then I'm suppose to but it really just kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. Now I know that I was over reacting and he's simply an actor but it just made me feel weird watching an actor who portrayed Joseph Smith now portraying a corrupt reverend. On a different note is was nice to see that Renard is feeling the effects of his lip lock with Juliette.
  • A shirtless boxing Nolan?! Revenge started off with a bang and a body! Did you see that big mouthed frog in Victoria's house.
  • The first five minutes of Castle's premiere might have been my favorite Castle moments ever...and I wish my bedhead looked as good as Beckett's.

Peace.

With all this Election talk going on I randomly found these For The Record videos that I honestly LOVE. I thought I'd share this one with you this Monday morning because we could all use a reminder of what kind of President we have today...and more importantly remind us how much Bush actually did as President!

For the Record...Romney and Ryan will be getting my vote!
Not because Romney's Mormon but because he's NOT Obama! I don't want to live in a Socialized State, I want to live in an America where we take that old Constitution thing and hold our Elected representatives accountable to! These past four years I've really wondered if some of the people in Washington have ever read it!

General Conference.

"In the end, the number of prayers we say may contribute to our happiness, but the number of prayers we answer may be of even greater importance."-Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I really love President Dieter F Uchtdorf. He is an amazing man who has lived an amazing life. He is one of my apostles to listen to during conference. The way he relates different experiences that he has had to gospel principles is truly inspiring! I found a list of 10 reason why he is cooler than me (and you) that is so true! Click here to see him totally prove number 7.

Peter Pan.

I am loving this Miss Selfridge gold chain Peter Pan collar.

It really helps me think happy thoughts so that I can fly out my window with Peter--though in this situation he's older and I'm not dragging my brothers around with me!

Waiting.

Oh my goodness! It's that time of year again Yep, that's right my birthday is only days away!! You're excited I know, so am I! With the hopes of presents and delectable food I have begun planning my birthday party!!

I sat down yesterday and made some invitations. They're pretty simple because I spent the morning filling out applications which makes me grumpy and tired...nappy. Is nappy a word? As in I need a nap, I'm feeling nappy? Well filling out applications definitely makes nappy. I needed a distraction and invitation making was it. Now, I just need to figure out what we're doing!

Who wants to come!?!

292. Getting your hair washed at a salon!

Small Step.

I'm sure everyone has heard the news that Neil Armstrong--arguably one of the most famous American Heroes ever--passed away this last week. He led the Apollo 11 mission along with the dancing Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. He walked on the moon, he lived a Science Fiction fantasy--a 139 minute walk on the moon. I've read a lot about Armstrong this last week but I love the simplicity of something Mitt Romney said "The moon will miss its first son of Earth."

Endymion by Roz Kaveney
(For Neil Armstrong)

In her white silent place, the hangings dust,
grey pebbles stretching to the edge of black
so far away. The goddess feels a lack
somewhere elsewhere, an ache deep as her crust

and weeps dry tears. The gentleman is gone
the first who ever called. His feet were light
as he danced on her. Went into the night
quite soon, his calling and his mission done.

yet still his marks remain. Footfalls and flag.
The others she forgets. He was the first
to slake her ages long and lonely thirst
for suitors. Now she feels the years drag

as they did not before he came to call.
Out grief compared to hers weighs naught at all.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

257. Finally remembering the word on the tip of your tongue!

Dream Phone.

The girls found our old Dream Phone game and they loved trying to find out who liked them. But all the guys looked so--90s that they could hardly stand it.

One night I decided that we needed a desperate update. It didn't take very long, the hardest part was coming up with enough boys that the girls would recognize--mainly Disney Chanel guys.

The girls loved it and played and played and played! It was well worth a nights work!

Summer Reading.

Summer days are very long and here they are very hot so this summer we had a reading hour--that's right a WHOLE hour everyday.  Well not exactly a whole hour of reading; we would read together for 30 minutes then they had the option to read, write, color or nap for the next 30 minutes.

Everyday they got to chose one of my hats and we would wear them while we read.

It was a good break in the day--and usually a much needed break. We were able to read Alice in Wonderland and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I really enjoyed it, N enjoyed it, L could only handle reading one page and then struggled having to pay attention while N read.

Summer Movie Review: Disturbia.

This might have been the girls favorite movie this summer! I still don't understand why these little girls who love to play Barbies like to watch movies that scare the crap out of them--but it does allow us to watch enjoyable movies.

Is it just me or is it still hard to believe that Shia LeBeouf went from Even Stevens to this. Anyways for those who haven't seen Disturbia then you need to check it out. It's pretty much Rear Window but instead of James Stewart in a wheel chair you have LeBeouf in an ankle bracelet.

The girls loved it, I love it and my mother who swears this was the first time she has seen this movie loved it. I definitely recommend this movie and then you should watch Rear Window because it is the original made by the master Alfred Hitchcock himself.

The Importance of a Name by M.Russell Ballard.

I loved this talk from the October 2011 General Conference by Elder Ballard. I've always been very grateful for the name I was given. I was named after my Great-Grandmother Malinda Rogers an amazing woman I never had the opportunity to meet. I'm also a Nevitt, a name I hold sacred and I'm so grateful that my Mema and Pop taught me what it means to be a Nevitt Knight and I pray I never let them down.

Elder Ballard talks about the name of Christ--a name I have also taken upon me when I was baptized. He reminds me that more than my Great-Grandmother or my Mema and Pop I need to live up to that name that I've adopted at baptism.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

Summer Movie Review: John Carter.

The first time I heard the name John Carter was on the amazing Laini Taylor's blog. I love her writing so the mere fact that talked so highly of this John Carter I knew I had to read it before I saw the movie. I did that and loved it. Then I watched the movie with the girls this summer. L wasn't into it at all but N kind of liked it. PB and PH liked it a lot more, and me--well I loved it.
The casting was brilliant, and the highlight for me was the fact that James Purefoy and Cirian Hinds--(and  Polly Walker who were all in ROME!)--were in the movie--see photo evidence below!

I found John Carter to be a very entertaining movie. It's a fun story and it's full of beautiful men and women fighting on Mars. I was a little confused because I had only read the first book at the time and they mix the events around a little but an enjoyable movie none the less! I totally recommend it!

Summer Science.

Summer started and we pulled our lab coats and safety goggles out of the closest to try our hand at some more exciting science experiments.

Our first experiment was to try to make a bouncy ball.

We were all very excited!

And who would have thought, it worked--kind of!

Zion in the Midst of Babylon by David R. Stone

This is a talk from the April 2006 General Conference.

I don't know if anyone remembers listening to this talk, but it is one of my all time favorite talks ever given at a General Conference. I know that's hard to say because there are so many good ones but I love this one. I was on my mission the first time I heard it and it stuck with me--and it's not just because this guy has an accent!

"By the pricking of my thumbs,/ Something wicked this way comes!"

Geeky Insults.

"You are a fart factory, slug-slimed sack of rat guts in cat vomit. A cheesy scab picked pimple squeezing finger bandage. A week old maggot burger with everything on it and flies on the side."-Rufio, Hook

Summer Movie Review: Jungle 2 Jungle.

Do you remember this movie? I was so in love with Mimi-Siku. We went swimming at Grandma and Grandpa Blau's house and I saw this movie and just knew the girls would love it. And they did! L couldn't believe that he had a pet tarantula--which made me very glad that her parents would NEVER let her have one!

As far as Harry Potter goes, there isn't anyone that I noticed but you do get to watch Tim Allen and Martin Short. But the other day I was watching Being Human (US version) and I could not place where I knew the werewolf dude. So after watching the whole first season I looked it up and it's no other than Mini-Siku (Sam Huntington)!! This cute little boy grew up to be a good looking man!

Jungle 2 Jungle still a good summer classic. The girls and the boys loved it and I liked rewatching it and remembering all the crushing I had done!

The Articles of Faith.

13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after there things.

oh Baby.

The other day Janae asked asked me to help her throw a simple gender reveal party.

Everyone got to choose whether they thought Janole's little sea monkey was a boy or a girl.

I made pink and blue cake balls and I used just about every baby color there is.

Since it was Father's Day, Papa opened the box--upside down--and IT'S A GIRL!!

Woo Freaking Hoo!!!

Summer Movie Review: Labyrinth.

We watched Labyrinth the other day on Netflix and the girls and the boys loved it. It was the perfect movie for the girls who love to be scared out of the minds--seriously they've seen movies I would never watch--but they spend their days watching Good Luck Charlie.

As far as the Harry Potter game goes Timothy Bateson who is the worm/four guards is Kreacher. For those few who haven't seen this flick before it's all about a girl (Jennifer Connolly) who doesn't want to babysit her brother so she wishes for the goblins to come take him away. Unfortunately she says the magic words and they do really come take him away. Sarah now has 13 hours to get through the labyrinth if she wants to save her brother from the Goblin King (David Bowie)!

The girls loved it from beginning to end. The boys loved it, but the beginning part--where the goblins come and take Toby--scared PH but he loved the rest of it. Over all Labyrinth is an awesome movie and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Best Lines:
  • "This is what happens when you have school on Saturday."-Cordelia in "The Dark Age" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "It just means that you'd rather be with someone you hate than be with me."-Willow in "Innocence" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "They might not look it but bunnies can really take care of themselves."-Oz in "Phases" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This might be the root of Anya's fear of them.
  • "Welcome to the mystery that is men. I think it goes something, like, they grow body hair they lose all ability to tell you what they really want."-Buffy in "Phases" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "Passion, it lies in all of us. Sleeping, waiting and though unwanted, unbidden, it will stir. Open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us, guides us, passion rules us all and we obey. What other choice do we have?...Passion is the source of our finest moments: the joy of love, the clarity of hatred, and the ecstasy of grief...It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace, but we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank, without passion we'd be truly dead."-Angelus in "Passion" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "We like to talk big. Vampires do. 'I'm going to destroy the world.' That's just tough guy talk, strutting around with your friends over a pint of blood. The truth is, I like this world. You've got dog racing, Manchester United and you got people; Billions of people walking around like Happy Meals with legs. It all right here. But then someone comes along with a vision, with a real passion for destruction. Angel could pull it off. Goodbye, Piccadilly. Farewell, Leicester bloody square."-Spike in "Becoming: Part 2" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Best Outfits:
  • Harvey Specter's tux in "The Choice" on Suits.
Product Placement:
  • Animal crackers in "What's My Line? Part 2" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Are monkey's really the only cookie animal that wears pants?
Tangents:
  • Xander and Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer--where did that come from?! I loved them together.  In "Bad Eggs" Angel tells Buffy that he can't have kids. Yet he does have one with Darla on Angel--Whedon was there before Twilight.  Angel turning into Angelous--OMG classic!! Plus could you have a better lesson in abstinence. Then Xander who admits that even linoleum makes him want to have sex--but then there's Oz, who wants to kiss Willow--freeze frame--but doesn't because it's not just the kissing, it's the person you're kissing!
  • I absolutely loved the opening scene in "The Price You Pay" on Dallas. JR might be old, but he's still JR.

Summer Movie Review: Hugo.

Every Monday N, L and I all head down to the QCPAC for a movie. It's just like the Summer Movie thing that Harkins does but it's in QC so you don't have to drive all the way into town. It's well worth the $5 tickets I bought a couple weeks ago, and it takes up most of the morning--Woo Hoo! Last week we watched Hugo, a movie I never had much interest in seeing but I'm glad I did. I thought it was a beautiful film, one I will probably buy--if it's on sale! The girls enjoyed it but it was a little long and not super exciting--there was a lot of fidgeting going on.

One of the most entertaining thing to come out of the Harry Potter films was the game "Who was in Harry Potter" this is a game I also play this game with Star Wars and LOTR characters as well. But for those of you who play this game you will enjoy seeing Uncle Vernon (Richard Griffiths) woo Madam Maxime (Frances de la Tour)! Saruman/Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) is also in the movie and despite his wickedly cool voice he's not the bad guy! Asa Butterfield, who possesses eyes that fondly remind me of Elijah Wood, does a beautiful job as the lost little Hugo--which will only serve to get you excited for Ender's Game.

Over all I would highly recommend this movie. It's absolutely beautiful and your eyes will thank you--but the kids will more than likely get very bored. Also, the soundtrack is quite lovely too.
