oh Baby.

The other day Janae asked asked me to help her throw a simple gender reveal party.

Everyone got to choose whether they thought Janole's little sea monkey was a boy or a girl.

I made pink and blue cake balls and I used just about every baby color there is.

Since it was Father's Day, Papa opened the box--upside down--and IT'S A GIRL!!

Woo Freaking Hoo!!!

Summer Movie Review: Labyrinth.

We watched Labyrinth the other day on Netflix and the girls and the boys loved it. It was the perfect movie for the girls who love to be scared out of the minds--seriously they've seen movies I would never watch--but they spend their days watching Good Luck Charlie.

As far as the Harry Potter game goes Timothy Bateson who is the worm/four guards is Kreacher. For those few who haven't seen this flick before it's all about a girl (Jennifer Connolly) who doesn't want to babysit her brother so she wishes for the goblins to come take him away. Unfortunately she says the magic words and they do really come take him away. Sarah now has 13 hours to get through the labyrinth if she wants to save her brother from the Goblin King (David Bowie)!

The girls loved it from beginning to end. The boys loved it, but the beginning part--where the goblins come and take Toby--scared PH but he loved the rest of it. Over all Labyrinth is an awesome movie and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Best Lines:
  • "This is what happens when you have school on Saturday."-Cordelia in "The Dark Age" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "It just means that you'd rather be with someone you hate than be with me."-Willow in "Innocence" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "They might not look it but bunnies can really take care of themselves."-Oz in "Phases" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This might be the root of Anya's fear of them.
  • "Welcome to the mystery that is men. I think it goes something, like, they grow body hair they lose all ability to tell you what they really want."-Buffy in "Phases" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "Passion, it lies in all of us. Sleeping, waiting and though unwanted, unbidden, it will stir. Open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us, guides us, passion rules us all and we obey. What other choice do we have?...Passion is the source of our finest moments: the joy of love, the clarity of hatred, and the ecstasy of grief...It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace, but we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank, without passion we'd be truly dead."-Angelus in "Passion" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  • "We like to talk big. Vampires do. 'I'm going to destroy the world.' That's just tough guy talk, strutting around with your friends over a pint of blood. The truth is, I like this world. You've got dog racing, Manchester United and you got people; Billions of people walking around like Happy Meals with legs. It all right here. But then someone comes along with a vision, with a real passion for destruction. Angel could pull it off. Goodbye, Piccadilly. Farewell, Leicester bloody square."-Spike in "Becoming: Part 2" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Best Outfits:
  • Harvey Specter's tux in "The Choice" on Suits.
Product Placement:
  • Animal crackers in "What's My Line? Part 2" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Are monkey's really the only cookie animal that wears pants?
  • Xander and Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer--where did that come from?! I loved them together.  In "Bad Eggs" Angel tells Buffy that he can't have kids. Yet he does have one with Darla on Angel--Whedon was there before Twilight.  Angel turning into Angelous--OMG classic!! Plus could you have a better lesson in abstinence. Then Xander who admits that even linoleum makes him want to have sex--but then there's Oz, who wants to kiss Willow--freeze frame--but doesn't because it's not just the kissing, it's the person you're kissing!
  • I absolutely loved the opening scene in "The Price You Pay" on Dallas. JR might be old, but he's still JR.

Summer Movie Review: Hugo.

Every Monday N, L and I all head down to the QCPAC for a movie. It's just like the Summer Movie thing that Harkins does but it's in QC so you don't have to drive all the way into town. It's well worth the $5 tickets I bought a couple weeks ago, and it takes up most of the morning--Woo Hoo! Last week we watched Hugo, a movie I never had much interest in seeing but I'm glad I did. I thought it was a beautiful film, one I will probably buy--if it's on sale! The girls enjoyed it but it was a little long and not super exciting--there was a lot of fidgeting going on.

One of the most entertaining thing to come out of the Harry Potter films was the game "Who was in Harry Potter" this is a game I also play this game with Star Wars and LOTR characters as well. But for those of you who play this game you will enjoy seeing Uncle Vernon (Richard Griffiths) woo Madam Maxime (Frances de la Tour)! Saruman/Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) is also in the movie and despite his wickedly cool voice he's not the bad guy! Asa Butterfield, who possesses eyes that fondly remind me of Elijah Wood, does a beautiful job as the lost little Hugo--which will only serve to get you excited for Ender's Game.

Over all I would highly recommend this movie. It's absolutely beautiful and your eyes will thank you--but the kids will more than likely get very bored. Also, the soundtrack is quite lovely too.

TV Tuesday.

Recently Mecham told me that I really needed to watch Fairly Legal. Since I know her to be of sound mind and possession of really good taste I watched it--and loved it. The first season was good, but the second season was really good. I enjoyed the second mainly because I really like Ben Grogan. Don't get me wrong, Justin is gorgeous, but he had his chance with Kate and they just didn't work. Kate and Ben just work--for me at least--and she kept his stupid heart shaped rock! I will say that when the finale was ending I just kept thinking--this is the apartment that Ben's guy found? Where the heck is Ben?--I love the fact that Kate's dream apartment is next to Ben's. It just proves that they are meant to be together!

Best Lines:

  • "You know what? You and I may have different methods, but we both know how to get what we want. And you can call that being passionate...or you can call that being a dog and a jackass. But you can't call it empty. I'm not empty."-Ben Grogan on Fairly Legal.
  • "Now I feel like a dessert-stitute"-Leonardo in "Teenage Wasteland" on Fairly Legal.
  • "You ended that sentence with a preposition! Bastard!"-Jack O'Neill in "The Other Guys" on Stargate SG1.

  • "I guess if you're going to hide out somewhere all you need is a nice lawn and a convenient Costco."-Kate in "Shattered" on Fairly Legal.
  • "She is a hand grenade in a Holly Hobbie dress."-Ben Grogan on Fairly Legal.
  • "Love is never easy. You don't have to be seventeen you just have to be brave."-Ben Grogan in "Borderline" on Fairly Legal.
  • "I was being nice. Don't treat me like a fool."-Ben Grogan in "Force Majeure" on Fairly Legal.
  • "They're going to treat her like she blew up an orphanage field trip to an animal shelter."-Ben Grogan on Fairly Legal.
  • "Low expectations are the key to happiness."- Ben Grogan in "Finale" on Fairly Legal. (Someone said this at our stake conference a couple weeks ago.)
Best Outfits:
  • OK on the Fairly Legal pilot Kate wore this owl necklace--I hated it. I don't have anything against owls, but nope, it did not go with her outfit.
  • Kate's trenches on Fairly Legal.
  • Harvey always looks impeccable in his suits on Suits.
Product Placement:
  • Louboutin's in "Pilot" on Fairly Legal.
  • The Wizard of Oz ringtones on Fairly Legal.--Loved them! My girls and I are going to read The Wizard of Oz in July and it made me a little bit more excited.
  • Ipad in "Benched" on Fairly Legal.
  • Facebook in "Shine a Light" on Fairly Legal.
  • Simpsons in "Frozen" on Stargate SG1.
  • Star Trek in "The Other Guys" and "Unnatural Selection" on Stargate SG1.
  • Ben and Jerry's in "Unnatural Selection" on Stargate SG1.
  • Alf in "Sight Unseen" on Stargate SG1.
  • The Wizard of Oz in "Metamorphosis" on Stargate SG1.
  • Stargate SG1 is one of my new favorite shows! I seriously love Col. Jack O'Neill he's like Gibbs and DiNozzo combined. If you like NCIS and Star Trek then you'd love SG1. Mecham recommended Fairly legal to me and much to my surprise both Jack and Dr. Janet Fraiser guest star on it!
  • I really like Kate's Union Jack mug on Fairly Legal.
  • Portia de Rossi has been cast as Lily Munster in Mockingbird Lane.
  • Suits is back! I loved Donna's little Sherlockian moment of deducting what was wrong with Harvey. I'm looking forward to seeing Team Jessica, Harvey and Mike battle it out against the new guy.

My little brother D graduated from High School!!

It was Combs High School's first graduating class and it was pretty exciting.

We had a little dinner before hand to celebrate--no one in our family has graduated from Combs since my dad's with grade graduation, so it was kind of a big deal.

It's pretty exciting stuff. He'll be able to turn his mission papers in, in a few months and then he'll be leaving around January! Crazy to think my baby brother will be going on a mission soon, but that's life.

The beautiful Cathy Cambridge looked lovely at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in an Alexander McQueen dress and Jane Taylor hat.

What I love about Cathy is that she is wearing a dress that costs more than all the dresses I have ever owned--or will--combined and yet she likes a bargain.

Her diamond and pearl earrings were in fact--Fake! They're $75 from Belinda Hadden's "Fabulous Fakes". I will admit that it there is something deliciously ironic that Cathy wore fake diamonds to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, but you have to love her style!

240. When someone gets your sense of humor!

TV Tuesday.

Summer has started and I'm a nanny once again and I haven't had a lot of time to watch anything...and there really isn't much to watch anymore! That being said I did watch the Bones season finale--and it was intense! I had a feeling Brennan was going to run, but it still made me sad. I'm not worried though, they'll have to solve it soon because can there really be a show where Bones is on the run and Booth is suspended? I enjoyed Mad Men this week, actually I think it was my favorite episode so far this season. I was pretty sure that Lane was going to kill himself since...he forged that check. But it was still sad to see; Joan's reaction was heart-breaking. I loved the Sally story line and surprisingly Glen didn't annoy me.

In other news, Jerry O'Connell has been cast as Herman Munster in the Mockingbird Lane! Bryan Fuller said of Herman Munster is "essentially a zombie in a constant state of decay--and he's married to a woman who doesn't age, there's something very poignant there." Oh my goodness, I really hope this show pulls off the awesomeness that was in every episode of Pushing Daisies.
