Happiness is the little things...

62. Being missed by someone!

The Venus Project.

In the Venus project, Anna Utopis Giodano an Italian artist gives some of the most famous pictures of the Venus, the goddess of love a modern make over...or the photoshop treatment! She takes these classic beauties and slims the waist and increases the...busts...in order to fit what today's beauty standards.

{Botticelli, La Nascita di Venere}

{Hayez, Venus}

{Tiziano, Venere di Urbino}

I for one thought this was absolutely fascinating. Not only does Giodano's work show how much societies perception of beauty has change, it also shows--to me at least--the sensuality that a...curvy figure had and still has. I'm not a fan of the you can see my ribs look. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Learn to be happy and feel beautiful no matter what you weigh, be that 90lbs or 200lbs.

I for one am not the thinnest person around, but I am not going to let society tell me that because I'm not a size 7 I don't look good. I don't want to be a size 7--it's to much dang work and honestly I like food and I at least think I look good. If you don't like it, well that's your freaking loss--you're the one who has to get over it.

As for me, I'm going to eat that slice of pizza and thirty minutes after that I'm going to go jump in the pool and the only thing I am going to worry about is coming out of the top of my swim suit when I dive in not what others think about me when they see me in a swim suit. So if society's ridiculous beauty standards are getting you down, what you probably need to do is come swimming with me--it might even make you feel better about yourself--just make sure you bring a pizza and maybe some Diet Coke!

Gold.

"There'll be no locks or bolts between us, Mary Kate...except those in your own mercenary little heart!"--Thornton, The Quiet Man

These look simple and they'd be the perfect touch to a St. Patrick's Day dinner. Everyone could have their own golden rice krispie bar. Now I just need to find gold paper.

49. Cuddling!

Elementary.

Have you heard that CBS is going to be making an American Sherlock Holmes series? That's right they're going to Americanize it. I have to admit that I'm on the fence about this one.

Firstly I will admit that I really enjoy watching Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law in their Sherlock Holmes movies and I don't have a problem with them making more. They are both very nice to look at and I really enjoy the chemistry they have on screen.

But I am absolutely in love with the BBC's Sherlock. Martin Freeman as Doctor Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch are absolutely freaking amazing! Both are the perfect Sherlock and Watson. It's a modern Sherlock Holmes that is brilliant. And yes, I Believe in Sherlock Holmes. And you have to admit that either one would in fact be quite charming as my future husband!

So when I hear that CBS is going to make an American version of this beloved classic, I'm not surprised. Between Sherlock and Doctor Who, Americans are falling in love with British television--personally I think we need a few panel shows like QI, and Would I Lie To You.  When I learned that Jonny Lee Miller was cast as Sherlock...well, I'm beginning to think that Elementary might be worth watching; I did loved him Eli Stone and Emma. As of now it is decided, I will be tuning in to see Elementary when it airs--and yes, I will then most assuredly be letting you all know what I think of it!

We ate lots of food and played a lot of dinosaur games.

 The boys loved them. PB wore his all day long--and the next day too!

More pictures of the party and our valentine trip to the Museum of Natural History!

242. When the lights go down and the play starts!

Awake.

"This is why I've avoided success at all costs. I mean you work your whole life to get some nice stuff just so somebody can come along and kill you for it."--Detective Isaiah "Bird" Freeman

NBC has a new drama Awake, about a man who cannot tell between reality and dreaming. It's an interesting enough concept, but I'll be honest the reason I want to watch it is because of Jason Isaacs--Lucius Malfoy--is the main character. When I heard that you could watch the full pilot 2 weeks before the actual show premieres on NBC.com, I had to see what it was all about.

I really liked it. It's about a police detective who was in a car accident with his family. Now he's living two realities; in one his wife died in the other it was his son who died. This is definitely a show I will be watching and so should you. I hate when a good looking show gets canceled before its time.

286. Feeling the sun on your skin!

Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I saw this Breakfast at Tiffany's party on Pinterest and loved it! How fun would it be to throw an Audrey inspired girly party!

Which reminded me of a Breakfast at Tiffany's party I saw on Gabriela Lim's photography blog. You have to admit that inviting all your girl friends to slip into their little black dresses for a Breakfast party sounds absolutely fab--and it really beats the whole birthday breakfast kidnappings that I remember.

And that reminded me of Blair's Tiffany's Bridal Shower on Gossip Girl. Little Black dresses or Orange Dior Dresses I think I need to throw a girly dress up party.

Honor Code.

Have you heard about this so called Valentine Violation at BYU? If you haven't you should watch this and be grateful you don't have to put up with the holier than thou attitude of some BYU students.

Now, I'm sure some of you are aware that I did attend BYU for a time. I come from a long line of BYU graduates, Papa use to wake us up in the morning singing BYU's fight song--Rise and shout the cougars are out. I went to BYU with high hopes only to realize that slight panic attacks would often greet me as I walked to class drowning in a sea of pastel polo shirts. I'm sure that my unhappiness was mostly my fault, there are normal fun people who go there I was just to miserable--and freaking cold--to find them. You should also note that not all Mormons are as pompous and the boy who sent the Valentine Violation note. According to the news story, jeggings have been approved to be worn on campus which makes the girls outfit entirely in line with the honor code. So Mister note passer--you aren't in high school anymore, be glad you aren't at ASU where you can pretty much wear as little or as much as you want to--I hope that you are beginning to feel a little bit foolish, because I for one think you are one. Next time you see someone who you personally think is violating you precious honor code take a note from something I learned in Primary--STOP starring at her and hum you freaking favorite Hymn!

Rock candy seating cards and drink stirrers! Personally I wouldn't use champagne maybe Sprite, Ginger-ale, Sparkling cider...something like that!

3. The sound of a soda can opening!

Real Steel.

"We fight smart, be patient, and pray! Seriously, pray!"--Charlie Kenton

To begin let's just look at this picture--yeah, I loved it! Jackman is so charismatic that it is truly hard to hate him--even when you're suppose to.  It's giant robots beating the crap out of each other! Plus there's the whole father son relationship it's so good you can almost get over the fact that Kate from lost is in the movie. But she's going to be in the Hobbit so I'm just going to have to learn to live her popping up in movies. If you haven't seen this movie yet--go Redbox it, check it out from your local library, or buy it--it'll be well worth it!

216. Not having to buy the $100 textbook.

Super Bowl.

The breakdown:

How is it possible that Uncle Jesse gets better looking with age?

It's a sweet little commercial and it's Clint Eastwood!

I'll admit, I'm a sucker for the Clydesdales--they're just cool!

Matthew Broderick's Day Off--loved it!

Vampires turn to dust, funny but all I really know is that this car would have saved Buffy a lot of trouble.

Who needs a White Horse?

Oh clever!

The Next Ones! Loved it.

and there was the Avengers but I can't find the whole commercial.

...oh and the Giants won 21-17.

Saw this on A Cup of Jo the other day and loved it!  It's sweet and simple--and if unlike me you are in some kind of relationship--I can see it scoring some brownie points!--as long as it's not served at the crack of dawn!
