"No words in Christendom mean more to me than those spoken by the angle to the weeping Mary Magdalene and the other Mary when, on the first day of the week, they approached the tomb to care for the body of their Lord. Spoke the angle: 'Why seek you the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.' "-Thomas S. Monson "He Is Risen!" Apr. 2010 General Conference

PB turned 5 this month! On his birthday we picked up some lunch from McDonalds and then headed to the park. While we were waiting I rolled down his window and told him he had to tell everyone he saw it was his birthday. He yelled out his window to every car we passed. Then we got to the park and every time a construction truck passed--some two or three times--he would yell "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!" It was so fun!

For his birthday party we had a baseball T-ball party--PB kept telling me it was not a Baseball party. We borrows a legit hot dog cart from Uncle J and Aunt L and it made the party...in my opinion! I thought it was the cutest coolest--per PB his party isn't cute it is cool because he's a boy--thing ever!

I had to make myself and appropriate baseball shirt for the party. PB gave me a flower--one from Nana's flowers on the front porch--before the party started. It was a real fun party!

The highlight of the party was Grandma D's present. A huge turtle that PB promptly names Shelly. All the kids loved the turtle!

It was quite the party!

"She thinks Easter is cool. Talking rabbits freak her out."-Fred

This is a fun silly Easter movie. A rebel Easter bunny who wants to start a band...kids will really enjoy it. So grab some jelly beans, some candy eggs and those nasty peep things and enjoy this movie with your kids.

Tolkien Reading Day.

Today is the anniversary of the fall of Sauron.

I know that you all knew that, I just wanted to make sure you remembered it was today! In order to celebrate this momentous event in the fictional history of the world the Tolkien Society would like you to...read Tolkien! Dust off your copy of The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion or you might want to read his translation of Gawain and the Green Knight or maybe his essay "Beowulf: The Monsters and The Critics" and enjoy the magic of Tolkien's prose once again!

March Madness.

I'll admit that March Madness is something that I only occasionally get into and it has been years since I cared what team won. That being said I'm really getting behind this March Madness from Starwars.com.

Won't You Be My Neighbor.

Today is Won't You Be My Neighbor day!

Today is the day we celebrate Fred Rogers and his legacy of being a good neighbor. I  don't remember watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood at home, but we would watch it every time we went to my Grandma's house. The more I learn about Mr. Rogers the more I admire him. Mr. Rogers was a Presbyterian minister who got into television because he hoped--he believed--that it could be a force for good in the lives of children. To celebrate today there are a few things you could do but may I suggest wearing your favorite sweater while doing something extra special for the good neighbors you have in your life!

Let us eat cake.

Megs and I were watching little A the other day and while we watched My Neighbor Totoro I made these funnel cakes. It was quite the experiment since cooking with oil kind of freaks me out, but they turned out pretty good--not as pretty as the picture, but close. Little A was way more interested in eating cookies than trying my funnel cakes but Megs liked them.

Book of Mormon.

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that it is a true book written by ancient prophets for our benefit today. I know that through reading it we can find peace as we come to better understand that God has a plan and he wants us to be happy.

Little Brother.

"Not all those who wander are lost."-J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Yesterday I said goodbye to my little brother; he will be serving a LDS mission in Wellington New Zealand--or Middle Earth, which is how I will forever think of New Zealand. It's been an exciting few months as he has waited and prepared to leave and then it happened oh so fast. I really didn't know what to expect since O left on his mission before I finished mine. It was good day and in the end I couldn't say more than you're going to be a great missionary before the tears started flowing. I know Elder D is going to be an amazing missionary; the people of New Zealand are very lucky to have one of the happiest people I know serve them for the next two years.

World Headquarters.

"She thinks my tractor's sexy!"-Kenny Chesney

Papa attended a conference at John Deere World Headquarters last week. I was excited he went because that meant that he would bring back some cool JD swag--unfortunately he is unwilling to part with the hat they gave him and instead I had to settle on a tractor...which more than likely will end up in one of my nephews sticky hands! The good news is that I'm pretty sure one of the next family vacations we take will be to Moline, IL to visit their World Headquarters--I'll admit that I had no idea they had a world headquarters--it's kind of fun to say/type. Papa is still talking about how cool it was--Christmas morning cool to an old AZ farmer. If anyone is ever around Moline, I highly suggest you stop by John Deere World Headquarters; it will be a treat to anyone--little boys fascinated with tractors, Papa's fascinated with tractors and farmer girls who just want to ride in them!

Good Luck Nurse.

"Nurses are angles in comfortable shoes."-Anonymous

My little sister Meg is officially a RN!! She's worked hard for years studying, working long shifts at hospitals...lots of things I could never do--I don't do bloody things, or throw up, or other gross things nurses come across. But I'm so happy for her!! Now she just needs a job--so if you know of anywhere that wants to hire a competent and amazing nurse, Megs is the nurse you're looking for!

Congratulations Megs!!

Neil Gaiman is writing another adult novel. The Ocean At the End of the Lane will be released 18 June 2013. I'm pretty excited to read it.

It began for our narrator forty years ago when the family lodger stole their car and committed suicide in it, stirring up ancient powers best left undisturbed. Dark creatures from beyond the world are on the loose, and it will take everything our narrator has just to stay alive: there is primal horror here, and menace unleashed - within his family and from the forces that have gathered to destroy it.

His only defense is three women, on a farm at the end of the lane. The youngest of them claims that her duckpond is an ocean. The oldest can remember the Big Bang. {from Goodreads}

Not only can you read a new Gaiman novel you can pre-order a signed copy from Porter Square Books. I keep visiting the page and almost ordering it, but then I think no I should pay my credit card bill first...but then I come back the next day. That being said I'm pretty sure I'm going to be ordering my copy any day. You can also check out some of Dave McKean's artwork for the book as well.
